News: EA to reveal major 2014 title at E3

Added: 07.05.2014 9:25 | 16 views | 0 comments

New Battlefield to be shown off next month?

The game will run on Frostbite 3, although EA remains coy on whether it'll be a new Battlefield shooter or something else. Whatever it is, EA says it's "very, very excited" about it.

It was rumoured earlier this year that EA was preparing to release a new Battlefield title this autumn, with Dead Space developer Visceral Games reported to be working on a police-themed spin-off in conjunction with Ghost Games UK.

EA's E3 press conference takes place at 8pm BST on June 9.

Feature: The Worst Video Game Taglines In History

Added: 06.05.2014 17:17 | 2 views | 0 comments

20 years ago Nintendo decided that 1994 was "The Year Of The Cartridge". Far from an internal memo, it was a publicly declared tagline. Here's some other awful marketing decisions throughout the ages.

What the hell does this even mean?! Obviously in an attempt to win over children who hate their parents, EA sought to, you'd imagine, play up how un-PC its survival horror sequel was. Because all mums are super politically correct, as we know.

The main problem, though, is that Dead Space 2 was an 18. And any 18-year old that buys a game to try and piss off their parents has a lot of issues. And probably shouldn't be playing Dead Space 2. And should probably start thinking about moving out…

The Wii Crash and Capcom Mobile Bust Great for Gaming

Added: 19.04.2014 21:14 | 14 views | 0 comments

Publishers have always wanted to expand their target audience. There is nothing wrong about expanding your demographic per se, but if a company tries to expand their audience while kicking their main consumers to the curb, there will be repercussions. Nintendo did this is a sense with the Wii. EA tried to change Dead Space into an action shooter. Square Enix started to focus their efforts on mobile instead of the console space. The list of publishers changing their identity for the mass market goes on and on. Even with all this negativity, there is a silver lining. Companies are finally starting to realize that their core audience is the key to their business, and focusing on the core audience is the most consistent way to make a profit. Before I explain this statement, lets examine how the industry ended up in this mess in the first place.

Quite possibly the sleaziest cutscene glitch ever

Added: 16.04.2014 16:21 | 8 views | 0 comments

The Wolf Among Us indeed.
My favourite game glitch of all time came about halfway through Dead Space 3, when I managed to trigger an enemy reinforcements wave during a cutscene. They proceeded to chop me apart, but Isaac Clarke's heavily mutilated torso decided to act out the rest of the scene regardless. The show must go on, etc.

Could A Star Wars Horror Game Work?

Added: 12.04.2014 12:14 | 11 views | 0 comments

Justin from Pixel Gate writes: With the recent news of Visceral Games tackling a Star Wars title has made me bring up thoughts of a horror game set in the Star Wars universe. Weve already had novels touching the subject and it makes me dream of a space-based horror game set in the SW universe. You could say Visceral nailed down space-horror fairly well with the Dead Space series, and with Amy Hennig (Uncharted writer) and Todd Stashwick penning this Star Wars game makes me feel a sense of hope. It probably wont be a horror game, but one can dream right?

News: EA is first to date its E3 2014 press conference

Added: 11.04.2014 9:19 | 10 views | 0 comments

Will we see Dead Space 4?

This means EA is the first of the major E3 players to confirm a date, but hasn't said what it will be showing off. Expect the usual suspects, such as Need For Speed, FIFA etc, plus an extended look at Dragon Age, and we may also see glimpses of Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, Mirror's Edge and the new Mass Effect.

The Monday typically sees Microsoft go first, followed by EA, then Ubisoft and finally Sony. Nintendo usually does its thing on the Tuesday.

Collector's Corner: Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition

Added: 06.04.2014 15:14 | 11 views | 0 comments

VGS: 'So, this is the famous - or should I say, notorious - collector's edition that comes with a replica plasma cutter, something that sounds rather promising. Because of this you would expect the box to be bigger than it actually is, and it made me wonder how the game and a replica gun could both fit in.'
